FALL CLEANUP

Hello Coaches, Parents and Players,

Baseball Fall Cleanup day is scheduled for Saturday October 11th.

We will be cleaning up and putting away the field and equipment for the season. We would like to get as many people as possible. The more help the quicker we will finish. We are asking for two hours your time. You can either help at Quigley-Sime Park from 8:00am to 10:00am or at King Park from 10:00am to noon.

We will be taking down the batting cages netting on eleven cages, removing banners, picking up trash, storing tarps and equipment, etc.

Please show your support for Lakeville Baseball by helping out.

Thank you,

Chuck Ryan

ATTENTION 2015 TRAVEL BASEBALL CANDIDATES - FALL TRYOUTS

As part of our continual efforts to improve our evaluation process and to incorporate feedback from parents, coaches and volunteers, we will be conducting first round travel tryouts this Fall. This allows us to return to a multi-round tryout process, see the boys on an actual field, and utilize a proven upper/lower grouping system.

Moreover, we will be able to announce team rosters and coaches sooner this Spring which will permit:

• Extra team practice time so teams are better prepared for the start of the season

• Coaches a better idea of team strengths and weaknesses

• More time for coach development and training

• More time to identify team manager and fundraiser

• Evaluators with fewer boys to review in the second indoor round allowing for better accuracy.

• More time for equipment distribution

• Uniforms can be ordered and distributed sooner

NORTH First Round (King Park)

All boys registering for Travel Baseball will attend the first round outdoor tryouts. There will NOT be cuts made after the first round.   The first round of tryouts is scheduled for the week of September 15-18th. More information/reminders will follow.

North age groups by evening:

14’s – Monday night (9/15)
13’s – Tuesday night (9/16)

12’s & 11's – Wednesday night (9/17)  (NEW - 5th grade moved to Wednesday!)
10’s – Thursday night (9/18)

SOUTH First Round

All boys registering for Travel Baseball will attend the first round outdoor tryouts. There will NOT be cuts made after the first round.

Tryout dates and locations:

Saturday, September 20th

10/11's 1-3:00PM @ Quigley 1

12's 3:30-6:30 Quigley 1

Sunday September 21st

13's 1-3:00 LSHS Varsity Field

14's 3:30-6:30 LSHS Varsity Field

Second (Final) Round – Saints Academy

The second round will be utilized to name the three 12 man rosters (36 boys will make Travel). As in the past, the upper group will eventually comprise the AAA/AA team rosters. The lower group will eventually comprise the AA/A rosters. The remaining boys who did not make the AAA/AA/A rosters will be encouraged to join the LBA House program.

The second round will be tryouts at Saints Academy (Targeted for February).

Registration will soon be open – you will only be asked to pay the $25 tryout fee. If your son is placed on a Travel team, the remainder of the fee will be paid in the Spring after team assignments.

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we incorporate this change to improve your son’s over-all baseball experience!

Regards,

Glenn Parker – South Travel Director;

Dave Tobias – North Travel Director;

Russ McGill – LBA Commissioner
