Before continuing with election details I would like to thank Chuck Ryan, Scott Sundem, Kaye Koyak-Wahl and Jamye Casperson for their outstanding efforts and contributions to our program. Each one of these board members volunteered countless hours that resulted in huge successes within their areas of responsibility. Amongst other things, we have them to thank for the vast improvements in our field conditions, the seamless ordering, distribution, and collection of uniforms/equipment, the unprecedented level of fundraising that has financed important projects, and the timely distribution of information to our members. Once again, a huge “thank you” to Chuck, Scott, Kaye, and Jamye!!!
As many of you know, LBA is in the middle of a very exciting time. Most notably the “Light Up Lakeville” project which will make night baseball at King Field a reality is on track and moving ahead. In order to keep this project and our many other services going, we need committed volunteers who are willing to step up and accept leadership roles within the organization. Please consider donating your time and skills to improving our program!
If you are interested in any of the positions listed above, please feel free to contact me or any board member for additional information.
ATTENTION 2015 TRAVEL BASEBALL CANDIDATES - FALL TRYOUTS
As part of our continual efforts to improve our evaluation process and to incorporate feedback from parents, coaches and volunteers, we will be conducting first round travel tryouts this Fall. This allows us to return to a multi-round tryout process, see the boys on an actual field, and utilize a proven upper/lower grouping system.
Moreover, we will be able to announce team rosters and coaches sooner this Spring which will permit:
• Extra team practice time so teams are better prepared for the start of the season
• Coaches a better idea of team strengths and weaknesses
• More time for coach development and training
• More time to identify team manager and fundraiser
• Evaluators with fewer boys to review in the second indoor round allowing for better accuracy.
• More time for equipment distribution
• Uniforms can be ordered and distributed sooner
NORTH First Round (King Park)
All boys registering for Travel Baseball will attend the first round outdoor tryouts. There will NOT be cuts made after the first round. The first round of tryouts is scheduled for the week of September 15-18th. More information/reminders will follow.

Second (Final) Round – Saints Academy
The second round will be utilized to name the three 12 man rosters (36 boys will make Travel). As in the past, the upper group will eventually comprise the AAA/AA team rosters. The lower group will eventually comprise the AA/A rosters. The remaining boys who did not make the AAA/AA/A rosters will be encouraged to join the LBA House program.
The second round will be tryouts at Saints Academy (Targeted for February).
Registration will soon be open – you will only be asked to pay the $25 tryout fee. If your son is placed on a Travel team, the remainder of the fee will be paid in the Spring after team assignments.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we incorporate this change to improve your son’s over-all baseball experience!
