ML Program Information

Our Mission
The mission of the South Metro Miracle League is to provide opportunities for children and adults ages 3 years old and over with cognitive and/or physical disabilities, to play Miracle League Baseball, regardless of ability.

Provide the opportunity to make new friends and build self-esteem in a fun and safe environment by using the Buddy Program, which pairs players up with able-bodied peers or adults to help them in the game.

Miracle League Season

  • The regular season includes 10 weeks of play starting in mid-May
  • All teams play one game each week
  • Games are held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings, or Saturday mornings
  • A 4-week fall season will be offered starting in mid-September after school starts

Miracle League Game Format
In compliance with National Miracle League rules:

  • Two inning minimum per team per game (target game length is 1 hour 15 minutes)
  • Every player bats once each inning
  • All players are safe on the bases
  • Every player scores a run before the inning is over (last one up gets a home run)
  • Community adults, children and/or corporate volunteer groups serve as "buddies" to assist the players
  • Each team and each player wins every game

Volunteers

  • Coaches teach the players the basics about the game of baseball and create an environment where the players will simply have fun!  For more info, check out the Coaches page.
  • Game Announcers - Volunteer to be a game announcer, to help cheer on our players and get the fans motivated.  We have everything you need.  Contact Kari Schmitz, if you are interested.
  • Buddy Program - One of the most important elements of a Miracle League game is the "Buddy" program. Each player is paired with an able-bodied friend to assist them on and off the field during a two inning game.  Check out the Buddies page for more info.
