Rookie camp registration will be offered starting January 28th.
Purpose
Rookie Camp is a Pre-Kindergarten baseball program that allows 4-6 year old children the chance to learn the basic fundamentals of baseball in a summer camp-like approach emphasizing fun and excitement.
Format
Each session starts with each team going through 15 minutes of warm-up and exercises.This is followed by a 15-minute general session that discusses a particular skill or topic.Teams break out and go through 2-3 skill sessions, where the parents and players work together on specific skill areas. Each team leader is given a schedule for the day, and the players move through each of the stations according to their particular schedule.Emphasis is on having fun and learning the basic skills of hitting, fielding, throwing, running, sliding, cheering, and helping each other.After the skill sessions, all of the players on each team get together and have snacks and listen to announcements and receive handouts from their coaches.

All sessions will be held at Antlers Park.
Rookie Camp Leader
The Rookie Camp Leader will either be an experienced youth baseball coach who has volunteered to run the camps or one of the Team Leaders who has volunteered to be the Rookie Camp Leader for that week.The Rookie Camp Leader’s responsibilities is to teach the basic fundamentals of baseball, coordinate the groups as they move through the activities, and provide positive instruction and feedback to the players during the sessions.
Team Leaders
The players are divided up into groups of 10, with at least 2 team leaders per team.The team leaders are the parents of the children.The responsibility of the team leaders is to keep the group together and organized during each of the sessions.They are responsible for providing assistance and positive feedback to the players during the sessions.Baseball or coaching experience is not required.
Uniforms
Each player receives a Lakeville shirt and Lakeville cap, which they keep.All the shirts are the same.The caps are different colors for each group.
Snacks
Snacks are provided by parents of each team on a rotating basis.Snacks include a drink and a snack.
Participation Award
A participation award is given to each player at the end of the season.
Rookie Camp Special Events
There are several special events planned for Rookie Camp each year.These include LBA Opening Day, Parade Day, and Picnic Day.These special events are meant to be enjoyed by the players, parents, siblings and friends.
Opening Day (Saturday, May 1st)
LBA's Opening Day will be held on Saturday, May 1st at KTMS.Team photographs will be taken throughout the day. We will be holding a Silent Auction of baskets created by our Traveling and House teams. Concessions will be available all day.
Squirt Gun Saturdays
On any Saturday when the forecast is over 75°, bring your squirt guns to Rookie Camp.We use them to cool off the players (and parents).Besides being a lot of fun, it helps insure none of our players get too hot during the session.
